14 academics from Yıldız Technical University (YTÜ) have been arrested within the scope of an investigation launched into “Fethullahist Terror Organization (FETÖ)”.
On November 18 detention warrants were issued for 103 academics at the university, 77 of them were detained.
Of the detainees, 30 were sent to court yesterday (December 5). Two of them were released by prosecutor’s office pending for a trial and two other were released on probation.
The remaining 26 academics were sent to judgeship for arrest on charge of “being a member of an armed terror organization”, 14 arrested and 12 released on probation.
State-run Anadolu Agency reported that 20 of them were dismissed from profession by a Statutory Decree. In total 3,850 academics from 107 universities were dismissed by three Statutory Decrees enacted during the State of Emergency declared in the wake of July 15 coup attempt.
The number of academics dismissed from the YTÜ is 48. (BK/TK)
