On May 3, Istanbul General Directorate of Security declared in written; among 408 demonstrators, who were detained on 1st of May, while 10 demonstrators have been taken into custody, 173 demonstrators have been released pending trial, and the progress is going on in order to send 225 demonstrators to the court.
Also, three members of Communist Party, who entered Taksim Square, have been arrested and the other detained members have been released.
In its declaration, Istanbul General Directorate of Security stated that 339 demonstrators were detained during the first day, and then 69 people were detained, “considering that they committed an offence upon the investigations concerning the people who were determined to act unlawfully”.
It was stated that 10 of 408 demonstrators have been took into custody as per Article No. 33 Law No. 2911 on Public Gatherings and Demonstrations amended with Law No. 6638; as a result of completed and ongoing investigations within the scope of the provisions of law and the other relevant legislation which assume two years six months to four years of imprisonment by the reason of carrying firework, Molotov bomb, similar improvised explosives, and iron marbles, slingshot, piece of stone, chains and similar materials.
