According to a statement by the General Staff, three soldiers and 9 PKK militants died in battle in the Sirnak province in the southeast of Turkey, and 5 further soldiers were wounded.
Military operations with air support are continuing in the seven southeastern provinces of Tunceli, Bingöl, Sirnak, Hakkari, Siirt, Van and Diyarbakir and units are being provided with more ammunition.
New cross-border operations?
According to the Cizre Postasi newspaper, the Turkish Armed Forces are moving soldiers to the borders in order to carry out further cross-border operations against PKK camps in Northern Iraq.
There have been clashes in the Cudi, Gabar and Kato mountains and the Bestler rivers area, and more tanks and personnel have been sent to the area. (EZÖ/AG)
