The Coalition for Women in Journalism (CFWIJ) has released its monthly report on the press freedom status for women in July 2021.
In July, the CFWIJ documented 61 cases of violations against women journalists, which include murder, abduction, detentions, and physcial assaults in the field, among other various kinds of press freedom attacks towards women journalists reporting from different parts of the world.
In Belarus, at least eight women journalists were legally harassed during the month of July, which means 66.6 percent of the total number of legal harassment cases documented happened in Belarus.
In July, Georgia was the country with the highest number of physical assaults, with 14 women journalists. Turkey followed its lead by 10 women reporters. Peru was another country in which women reporters were subjected to physical assault, with at least four journalists.

The report has shared the following details about Turkey:
"Journalists Büşra Taşkıran and Berna Kişin were physically assaulted by the police while covering demonstrations at Sincan Prison demanding the release of The Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) deputy Faruk Gergerlioğlu.
"Police attacked a gathering to commemorate those who lost their lives in the Suruç Massacre in Istanbul. At least eight female journalists were physically assaulted while covering the event.
"Independent journalists Canan Kaya and Nevşin Mengü were falsely accused online of being funded by international organisations because of their views on the refugee crisis."
