Worker Health and Occupational Safety Assembly released its annual report on occupational mortalities in Turkey.
According to the report, at least 1,886 workers died on the job across Turkey.
Among the deceased workers, 1,754 were men, 132 were women and 54 were children.
According to sectors, 423 workers died in construction, 386 died in mining, 309 died on agriculture.
The occupational casualties occurred mostly during traffic with 421 workers. 395 workers died due to poisoning/suffocation and 298 died due to falling.
29 workers died to professional illness. On the other hand, 331 workers have already retired from one profession.
The distribution of worker deaths was as follows: Manisa (343), İstanbul (198) and Kocaeli (67).
In May, 427 workers died on the job. Other peak months turned out October (171) and August (160).
According to the report, at least 127 workers died on the job in December with 15 women and 1 immigrant.
