Republican People’s Party Vice Chairman Sezgin Tanrıkulu submitted a parliamentary inquiry that contained 1,000 questions to PM Ahmet Davutoğlu.
Tanrıkulu reminded Finance Ministry’s statement that the aforementioned palace and airplane costed 1.37 billion liras and 185 million liras respectively.
30,000 apartments, 120 student residences, 36 airplanes, 13 satellites
The question concerned Turkey’s major issues on housing, education, water facilities and prevention of violence against women. Some of the questions included as follows:
* In a country where 40-day old babies die from pneumonia due to housing issues, couldn’t we have build 30,000 houses with a cost of 60,000 liras each for people with low economic status?
* Wouldn’t it be better to build 120 student residences with an average cost of 15 million liras each where 60,000 students could be lodged?
* In a country where no watering facilities don’t exist in 639 villages, couldn’t we have brought water there?
* Couldn’t we purchase 36 fire fighting airplanes with a cost of 25 million liras each?
* Couldn’t we spend 1.8 billion liras for the resolution of violence against women, child brides and women employment?
* Couldn’t we have sent 13 satellites with a cost of 140 million liras each?
Tanrıkulu also inquired on the actual of the new president palace as well as its month electric costs, imported material for its design. (EA/BM)
