People's Democratic Party MP Gergerlioğlu brought up the death of 17-year-old Gabonese student Jeannah Danys Dinabongho Ibouanga in the parliament in Ankara.
The dead body of Ibouanga was found by the Filyos River in Karabük on March 26. The student was in her first year studying Mechanical Engineering at Karabük University.
The MP said, "The dead body of a Gabonese student was found, who was studying at Karabük University. The prosecutor's office said that this was a natural death. The student was drowned in the river."
"However the Gabonese Embassy is saying that the event is announced as a "natural death" because the victim is black, without making any serious investigation. She is a 17-year-old student. And it is being claimed that she went swimming in the river at night. It is not reasonable that a female student should go swimming on a cold winter night. She is seen in the shootings of the security camera running outside without any shoes on. There are claims that she has been subjected to sexual harassment by two employees working in the Karabük post office. A satisfactory investigation has to be carried out about her death immediately."
