61 percent of young want to emigrate from Turkey ‘to live in a better society'

The İstanbul Economics Research has shared the findings of its report titled "An outlook on the future of Turkey." 

Based on surveys carried out by 3 thousand people aged 18-30, the report has shown that 36 percent of the young think "difficulty making ends meet has become part of their daily lives." 61 percent of the young think of emigrating from Turkey "to live in a better society in the future."

22 percent of the participants "do not feel close to political parties" and they do not think that "elections are functional."

When the respondents of the survey were asked, "If there was an election in Turkey this sunday, for which political party would you vote," it turned out that 19 percent of the young are floating voters.

72 percent of the young who define themselves as "highly religious" do not trust the cults, the report has shown. 31 percent of the the same group highly trust the Presidency of Religious Affairs

While 66 percent of the respondents prefer participatory democracy, the young indicated that "the current Presidential system is not good for Turkey". 37 percent of the respondents answered in the affirmative to the sentence "The Presidency must be more strictly inspected by the authorities." 31 percent were "absolutely against" this idea.

65 percent of the young who said that they would vote for the ruling AKP indicated, "It must be more strictly inspected."

The survey also asked the young questions about gender: 52 percent are of the opinion that "having a different sexual orientation is natural". However, 62 percent are against LGBTI+s "right to marry". (RT/SD)
