The Department for Transport of England has updated the "red, amber and green list rules for entering England".
While Turkey has remained on the "red list", Bahrain, India, Qatar and United Arab Emirates have moved to the "amber list."
As part of this system, there are specific rules one must follow to enter England depending on the country of departure that is rated as "red", "amber" or "green." The "red list" countries are marked by a warning of "You should not travel to red list countries or territories".
The latest update in England's three-color travel restrictions was announced on August 4 in the following words:
"From 4am Sunday 8 August, the fully vaccinated amber rules will apply to France. At the same time, Austria, Germany, Latvia, Norway, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia will move to the green list. Bahrain, India, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will move to the amber list. Georgia, Mayotte, Mexico and Reunion will move to the red list."
'Red list' rules
The red list rules are listed by England as follows:
"If you have been in a country or territory on the red list in the last 10 days you will only be allowed to enter the UK if you are a British or Irish National, or you have residence rights in the UK.
"You must follow these rules even if you have been fully vaccinated.
"Before you travel to England you must:
- take a COVID-19 test – children aged 10 and under do not need to take this test
- book a quarantine hotel package, including 2 COVID-19 tests
- complete a passenger locator form
"On arrival in England, you must quarantine in a managed hotel, including 2 COVID-19 tests."
The quarantine hotel prices have also been increased as of August 12:
