Noam Chomsky, a linguist, historian and political activist from the US, gave an online seminar at Rojava University.
As reported by Mezopotamya Agency (MA), attending the seminar held at the Agricultural Academy of Rojava University in Qamishlo, Rojava, a de facto autonomous region in northeastern Syria, Noam Chomsky has indicated that Joe Biden, the President elect of the US, is different from Donald Trump, "but one should not expect much."
Speaking at the seminar on the Zoom program, Chomsky has stated that Rojava is going through a difficult process.
"The main problem is how the attacks of the Turkish state will be eliminated with the approval of the US," he has said and added, "What path will it follow against the Damascus government? It is a miracle Rojava survived until now. We understand from experience that international support is possible."
'I don't think Biden will be as brutal'
Elaborating further on Biden and his imminent term in office in the US within the context of the Middle East, Chomsky has reportedly said:
"Without pressure from the people, Biden will continue the US system that protects the existing rich. It may be different from Trump.
"But one should not expect too much. That is why everyone should put pressure on Biden. I do not think that Biden will be as brutal as Trump. I do not think that he would approve of the killing of Kurds like Trump. "
'Guarantee women's rights'
Further in his speech, Chomsky has said, "The first thing to do is to guarantee women's rights. South Africa has been successful with the steps taken in this regard. This is your only hope. North and East Syria is a great asset. This value of the Rojava Revolution must be seen by the whole world. With the support of the people, you will achieve your goals." (RT/SD)
