The US Department of Treasury has sanctioned businessperson Evren Kayakıran for violating sanctions against Iran.
General Manager of the EMF Motors Kayakıran (39) is accused of evading the sanctions against Iran because of its nuclear armament program between July 2013 and July 2015.
"Treasury sanctions Turkish national as foreign sanctions evader for repeated violations of U.S. sanctions against Iran, including directing staff to commit and cover up these illegal acts," the US Treasury said in a tweet.

"Kayakıran directed staff to commit illegal acts"
In a written statement on its website, the US Treasury said that it is "sanctioning Kayakiran not just for his willful violation of US sanctions on Iran, but also for directing staff to commit and cover up these illegal acts."
"Kayakıran is being sanctioned as a foreign sanctions evader pursuant to Executive Order 13608, which targets efforts by foreign persons to engage in activities intended to evade U.S. economic and financial sanctions with respect to Iran and Syria," the statement said.
The statement also claimed that Kayakıran "threatened employees with termination if they refused to travel to Iran to provide the services" and "directed employees to falsify corporate records by listing the travel as vacation."
The sanctions prohibit all transactions or dealings involving Kayakıran and order the US financial institutions to reject payments involving the businessperson. (PT/VK)
