As the offensive launched with the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) and Free Syrian Army (FSA) into Afrin enters its 19th day, President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan have held a meeting. Recent developments in Syria including Afrin and Idlib were addressed in the meeting, according to the presidential sources.
Putin and Erdoğan “agreed on accelerating the process of forming new observation points in de-conflict zone in Idlib”, according to the information that the presidential sources gave.
Kremlin: Cooperation should continue
Russia-based news agency Sputnik citing Kremlin reported that “Talks between Erdoğan and Putin about the situation in Syria continue. Erdoğan condoled Putin with respect to killing of Su-25 jet pilot Roman Filipov”.
According to the statement, importance of the cooperation between Russia, Turkey and Iran was stressed and possibilities to hold new talks in this format was discussed.
“Increasing the coordination between the armies of Russia and Turkey in fight against terrorists who violate truce was agreed on”, the statement added. (PT/TK)
