Minister of Justice denied detention warrant
In the morning hours, upon claims in the press that a detention warrant was issued for another embassy staff, Minister of Justice Abdülhamit Gül had made a statement and said:
"There is not a second arrest- or detention warrant to our knowledge".
Arrest of Metin Topuz
Working at the US Consulate General in İstanbul, Metin Topuz was arrested as a part of the "Fethullahist Terror Organization (FETÖ)" investigation.
The US Embassy in Ankara said that it was "deeply disturbed" by the consulate employee's arrest.
"We believe these allegations to be wholly without merit," it added.
