The İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has indicted Onur G. over the deadly attack on the İzmir Provincial Organization of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), which claimed the life of Deniz Poyraz on June 17, 2021. The indictment has been accepted by the court.
The indictment has referred to the "diagnosis of psychological disorders" made five years ago about Onur G.
As reported by JinNews, the indictment demands an aggravated life sentence and up to 7 years in prison for the assailant. The indictment has indicated that after carrying out the attack, he pleaded guilty in both his WhatsApp posts and statements while leaving the building.
'Psychological disorders' once again in indictment
The indictment has quite strikingly referred to the assailant's "diagnosis with anxiety disorder and mild depressive episodes" in 2016.
According to the indictment, in the examination of the Historical Traffic Search (HTS) records, a total of 115 signals of the perpetrator were found in the area of Şair Eşref Boulevard and it was found that Onur G. had gone to the area 24 times from June 17, 2020 to June 17, 2021.
'I called the number, but could not reach'
The indictment has also referred to the statement of Onur G., who said that he had examined the building on the pretext of going to the English course upstairs. He said, "I called the number under the party emblem, but I could not reach. I called [the number] to enter the apartment to find out what kind of a place it is and how many people there are in general. But it was closed."
Accepted by the İzmir 6th Heavy Penal Court, the indictment has demanded aggravated life imprisonment for defendant Onur G. on charge of "premeditated wilful killing" and up to 7 years in prison on charges of "violating the immunity of workplace" and "damaging the buildings, facilities or property of the political parties or professional organizations."
