The Ordinary General Assembly of the İstanbul Chamber of Pharmacists (İEO) was held at the Nişantaşı Nuri Akın Anatolian High School on September 18-19, 2021. Pharmacist Şeker Pınar Özcan has been elected the first woman chair in the chamber's 65 years of history.
The Chair of the İEO was pharmacist Zafer Cenap Sarıalioğlu before this latest election, where the lists of the İstanbul Pharmacists' Movement and the Democratic Progressive Pharmacists competed.

"Upon the call of the İEO General Assembly Council Chair pharmacist Sibel Özkan Tarım, our women colleagues went up to the rostrum, saying, 'Feminicides are political', and they protested feminicides, the pressures targeting women and Turkey's withdrawal from the İstanbul Convention."
Receiving 1,597 of the votes at the General Assembly, the list of the İstanbul Pharmacists' Movement group has won the election while the other group received 347 votes. Pharmacist Şeker Pınar Özcan, the previous secretary general and the candidate of the İstanbul Pharmacists' Movement, has been elected the new Chair of the İstanbul Chamber of Pharmacists.
Born in Samsun in 1975, Şeker Pınar Özcan graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy of İstanbul University in 1997 and from the History Department of İstanbul University in 2017. Working as a pharmacist at a pharmacy in Bağcılar since 1998, Şeker Pınar Özcan was a member of the İstanbul Chamber of Pharmacists from 2017 to 2019 and the Secretary General of the İstanbul Chamber of Pharmacists from 2019 to 2021.
