Women's Platform for Equality (EŞİK) held online meetings on August 19 and 21 to discuss the situation of women in Afghanistan after the Taliban took over the country. Hundreds of women from more than 20 countries attended the meetings, it said in a statement.
The destiny of women in Afghanistan and the world is interconnected and that there is an attack on women's rights all over the world, said the participants.
A woman from Afghanistan who has been secretly home-schooled said her school was burned down by the Taliban and women in Afghanistan are currently not allowed in universities.
She added a woman anchor was banned from entering the state TV building and they were unable to establish contact with several women they knew.
"You'll get what you deserve after foreigners leave"
Another participant said that the Taliban threatened them by saying "The foreign forces will leave within 20 days and then you will get what you deserve!"
She stated that the Taliban is currently trying to deceive the world by appearing as a "moderate" group.
It was underlined at the meeting that the NATO occupation led by the US, which lasted for twenty years, did not bring peace or democracy to Afghanistan.
The women emphasized that the Taliban administration poses a huge threat primarily for the women and children as well as for all the people of Afghanistan and called on all women in the world to put pressure on their governments and take action. (NÇ/EMK/VK)
