Put on trial over the suspicious death of Aleyna Çakır and released after spending six months behind bars for "inciting drug use" on social media, Ümitcan U. has been taken into custody over another suspicious death.
Released 18 days ago, U. and Esra Hankulu (25) spent the night in the same room in Ankara. Hankulu was found dead in her bed in the morning.
Taken into custody over the suspicious death of Esra Hankulu, Ümitcan U. is also cited as the chief suspect of the death of Sema Esen, who is known as Aleyna Çakır. U. went to her house on June 3, 2020, he had a locksmith open the door as she did not. The dead body of Çakır was found. Detained as part of this investigation, U. was released after giving his statement.
The tissue and sperm samples detected on Aleyna Çakır reportedly matched with those taken from Ümitcan U.
He was released on July 17
After his video showing him doing drugs was revealed, U. was detained on January 10. Standing before the judge, he was arrested for "using drugs and psychotropic substances and publicly inciting their use."
Ümitcan U.' lawyer appealed against his arrest. Behind bars for nearly 6 months, Uygun was released by the ruling of the Ankara 1st Penal Court of Peace on July 17. There is still a court case against U. over the video showing him inflicting violence on Aleyna Çakır before her death. (EMK/SD)
