The state-appointed trustee of the Hakkari Municipality in southeastern Turkey has reportedly appointed Ayhan Tunç, the Director of Cultural and Social Affairs, to the Directorate of Women's and Family Affairs.
Taken into custody on October 15, 2019, Peoples' Democratic Party's (HDP) Hakkari Co-Mayor Cihan Kahraman was arrested on October 17. As reported by the state-run Anadolu Agency (AA), elected Co-Mayor Karaman was replaced by Hakkari Governor İdris Akbıyık.

On the other side, the state-appointed trustee of the Muradiye District Municipality in Turkey's eastern province of Van has appointed Bünyamin Polat, the Director of the District Public Training Center, as the Acting Director of Women's and Family Affairs in the district. The decision was reportedly taken at the "2020 November Municipal Council Meeting."
The elected mayor of Muradiye was also previously replaced with a trustee appointed by the Ministry of Interior.
Decision taken unanimously
While the decision was reportedly taken unanimously, the decision has indicated that "...while Bünyamin Polat will remain in office as the Chair of the District Public Training Center, he has been appointed as the Acting Director at the Women's and Family Affairs Directorate as per the Article 49 of the Municipality Law no. 5393."
