Rezan Epözdemir, the attorney of Gültekin family, has submitted a petition to the Muğla Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and requested that the investigation into the killing of Pınar Gültekin be extended.
Reported missing in Turkey's Aegean province of Muğla on July 16, university student Pınar Gültekin (27) was found dead in a forest area five days later. A man named Cemal Metin A. was detained shortly afterwards. He has been arrested for "killing with monstrous feeling."
Speaking to the state-run Anadolu Agency (AA), attorney Epözdemir has noted that they are working to ensure that a multi-faceted investigation be conducted into the death of Pınar Gültekin.
Sharing details about his petition, Epözdemir has said:
"It is striking that the suspect seems to be made to learn his statements by heart. In our application to the prosecutor's office, we requested the Historical Traffic Search (HTS) records before and after the murder and signal locations of his phone. Moreover, we have demanded an on-site examination to be carried out with the participation of the suspect."
'We think the murder was premeditated'
Arguing that arrested suspect Cemal Metin A. seems to have memorized his statements, attorney Epözdemir has briefly added:
"We think that this brutal murder was committed with premeditation. We have also made our objections to the statements of the suspect. We have requested the entire footage of security cameras and examination of fingerprints. We have also wanted to be informed about the details as to the confidentiality and restriction imposed on the file.
"We are of the conviction that the murder was brutally committed by being premeditated. The autopsy reports have not yet been announced. We expect them to be prepared in September. After the documents and reports that we request arrive, we will put forward the situation clearly."
Concluding his remarks, the attorney has also expressed their expectations that the bill of indictment be filed as soon as possible.
