The filming of Skylines series' first season has been finished. As of its fourth episode, the series has been directed by young director Soleen Yusef. Skylines will meet with its audience on September 27, 2019.
Speaking to bianet, Soleen Yusef has stated the following:
"I am of course proud but I also work very hard to achieve my dreams.
"I always hope to be an inspiration for the young Kurdish generation and to make them believe in dreaming big and working on their visions.
"I learn with every project that I do and try to develop my style and visions. I am still on my way and SKYLINES is one of the projects that I really loved!"
Skylines
Netflix has introduced its German original series Skylines in following words:
"A hip-hop producer gets tangled in organized crime when the gangster brother of his record label's owner returns from exile to claim his share."
From Duhok to Germany
Born in 1987 in the province of Duhok in Iraqi Kurdistan, Soleen Yusef had to emigrate to Germany for political reasons. Alongside her training as a singer and actress at the Academy Bühnenkunstschule in Kreuzberg, Berlin, she also worked as an assistant producer, director and distribution assistant. She took up studies in drama directing at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy in 2008. Her last film, "Noş" screened at several international festivals. Yusef has directed four movies and written the scripts of two films so far.

Kurdish women directors: We are proud
Bîna Qeredaxî, a Kurdish woman director, has shared the news on her social media accounts with the note "I couldn't have been more proud."
Speaking to bianet, documentary producer Hatice Kamer has also said, "Young people mostly follow films and series on the Internet. Netflix is a big platform. In addition to being a Kurd, it is very important that a young woman is present at such platforms. I am proud. I am really glad."
