Directorate of Religious Affairs has launched an investigation into a post of Mufti of Gölcük district of Kocaeli province Mehmet Yazıcı on Facebook.
Mehmet Yazıcı who has been serving as the Müfti of Gölcük since 2013, had posted the following comment on Facebook:
"Display product with unwrapped packages are always sold for the half price in shops. If you know what I mean..."
Yazıcı deleted his post soon afterwards, but it drew criticism upon comments that his allusive post actually addressed women who did not wear a headscarf.
Directorate of Religious Affairs has launched an investigation into the incident.
*A mufti is an Islamic scholar who interprets and expounds Islamic law. Muftis are jurists qualified to give authoritative legal opinions.
