The people of Turkey would vote more for the opposition Nation's Alliance instead of the ruling People's Alliance, according to a new poll by KONDA.
The KONDA poll conducted between 20-27 May showed that Justice and Development Party (AKP) and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) support is at 36.2 percent, while the opposition Republican People's Party (CHP)-Good Party (İYİ) support is at 46.4 percent.
HDP Votes decisive
The participants were asked, "If there were an election on Sunday, which political party would you vote for", and 5 political parties came to the fore according to the results.
AKP stood first with 28.7 percent and followed by the CHP with 24.7 percent and the İYİ Party with 21.7, which two make up the Nation's Alliance.
Support stood at 12.2 percent for the People's Democratic Party (HDP), which informally backed the opposition coalition in the 2019 municipal elections that resulted in AKP's losing İstanbul and Ankara. MHP came in last with 7.5 percent.
According to the results, the ruling People's Alliance will lose the majority in the parliament and the Presidency with a total of 36.2 percent whereas the opposition Nation Alliance will enter the second round of the presidential elections with a 46.4 percent majority in the parliament which means that HDP votes will be decisive in the presidential elections.
The voting rates of political parties would be as follows in case of a general election in Turkey:
AKP: 28.7 percent
CHP: 24.7 percent
İYİ Party: 21.7 percent
HDP: 12.2 percent
MHP: 7.5 percent
Others: 5.2 percent
