The Interior Ministry has said that 50 people were killed in traffic accidents during the five-day Sacrifice Feast (Eid al-Adha) holiday.
Those deaths, which took place between August 10 and 14, occurred in 45 accidents in 33 provinces, the ministry said.
A statement from the Ministry said:
"Despite the 61 percent increase in the number of motor vehicles in the last 10 years and the load of traffic, the loss of life in the same period for one day during the holiday at the level of 15, this number decreased by 34 percent to 10 losses of lives thanks to the measures taken.
"Compared to 2018, 39 percent reduction has been achieved. There were no fatal traffic accidents on buses carrying intercity passengers with 20 accident points in 18 provinces which we identified and took precautions."
According to Interior Ministry data, 86 people were killed in 73 traffic accidents involving death during the nine-day Sugar Feast (Eid al-Fitr) holiday between June 1 and June 9, 2019.
The Interior Ministry announced last year that 137 people had been killed in 106 fatal accidents during the nine-day Sacrifice Feast holiday between August 18-27, 2018.
According to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute, 6,675 people were killed in traffic accidents in 2018.
