A person who allegedly headed towards the 50.Yıl Police Station near National Intelligence Service Yenişehir District Directorate in Mersin province in south Turkey and disobeyed the stop warning has been killed.
Speaking to the state-run Anadolu Agency, Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor Başsavcısı Mustafa Ercan stated that the person had been planning to undertake a suicide attack to the police station and that was wearing a suicide vest.
Ercan added that they were considering the possibility that the person was a member of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
Doğan News Agency reported that the bomb experts were still working to disarm the bomb on the killed suspect.
"Mersin Governorship issued a written statement on the issue and noted that "A man was observed while acting suspicious near the 50.Yıl Police Station at around 8.15 a.m. on 06.09.2017 and had received a stop warning. He was shot and neutralized as he disobeyed the stop warning, headed towards the police station and reached for a cable hanging down from a his shoulder.
"The search for the identity and organizational relations as well as contacts of the man who was captured dead continues". (BK/DG)
