Acquittal in First Hearing of Exam Question on Öcalan

Ankara University, Faculty of Political Sciences fellow, Assist. Prof. Dr. Barış Ünlü has been acquitted in the first hearing he was tried over the exam question he prepared.

Ünlü in the final exam of the course “Political Life and Institutions in Turkey”, asked his students with respect to transformation of Kurdish movement / Kurdish society to compare two articles written by Abdullah Öcalan, the imprisoned leader of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). He was being tired on charges of “propagandizing for terror” and “praising crime and criminal”.

First hearing of the trial was conducted at Ankara 2nd Heavy Penal Court today (January 3).

The court has ruled acquittal of Ünlü for both of the accusation.
