Turkey denied entry to journalist Irina Alleman, who intended to cover the second round of the presidential election on Sunday, according to a statement she made on her Telegram account.
The incident occurred on May 25, just three days before the runoff vote, Alleman revealed. She explained that airport officials cited a "national security threat" as the reason for refusing her entry, but she was not provided with specific details about the nature of the threat.
Additionally, Alleman disclosed that she has been banned from entering Turkey for a duration of five years.
Irina Alleman serves as an anchor for the Popular Politics YouTube channel, which is associated with Aleksei Navalny's team, a prominent opposition figure who is currently imprisoned in Russia.
Having previously reported on the first round of the election in Turkey on May 14, Alleman's inclusion in Russia's Ministry of Justice list of "foreign agents" raised questions about any potential connection between the two incidents. (HA/VK)
