As reports of attacks and election violations emerge from various cities in Turkey, journalists also faced attacks and obstacles on election day.
KRT TV reporter Sultan Eylem Keleş was prevented from broadcasting by an AKP member, who is responsible for a school in Kadıköy district, while she was filming in Istanbul's Kadıköy district.
Keleş said on Twitter, "I was obstructed by the AKP school official while filming at Kadıköy Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. They think they can do anything, but it's not that easy. I filed a report and now I'm going to give a statement."
In Yeniköy neighborhood of Haliliye district in Urfa, members of the Green Left Party were subjected to a violent attack by a group when they went to the neighborhood upon learning that their observers were not allowed to vote.
Meanwhile, the camera of a Mezopotamya News Agency (MA) reporter was destroyed during news coverage. In İstanbul's Hürriyet neighborhood, dokuz8haber journalist Fatoş Erdoğan, who was observing the elections, was attacked. An AKP school official and other AKP supporters assaulted her and made "rabia" gestures.
