The Republican People's Party (CHP) made a criminal complaint yesterday (May 22) at the Çorum Chief Prosecutor's Office for an election fraud that they evidenced.
Ümit Er, the Chairperson of CHP in Çorum informed that they have identified a person who was in the intensive care unit at the time of the May 14 election but who has cast a vote that day.
Er said that they were making a criminal complaint about all election frauds that they were able to evidence.
The chairperson explained that they received notifications about balloting committees where the chairperson and committee members collaborated and where votes were cast for voters who did not go to the polling station to cast their votes.
"We identified that all of the voters registered at a ballot box in a village of one of our districts had cast their votes. However, one person registered in that ballot box (we keep the name to ourselves) was receiving treatment in the Çorum Erol Olçok Hospital intensive care unit since May 5, 2023, It is clear that it is not possible for her/him to leave the hospital in order to go and cast his/her vote," he said.
Er stated that it has been documented with the list of voters bearing the signatures of the voters who have cast their votes that a vote has been cast for this citizen on May 14. This is a clear example of election fraud," Er said.
He also added that they will be taking much more strict measures on May 28 and warned the chairpersons of balloting committees not to allow any fraud during the election.
CHP Çorum MP Mehmet Tahtasız has also spoken about the event and expressed that they will be pursuing court action against any election frauds that they identify. He added that they will be taking all measures on May 28 so that the free will of the voters will be reflected in the election results. (VC/PE)
