Drivers of 6,000 trucks kept waiting at Iraq border question if it is in order to keep them from voting

Citizens who travel to Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in Iraq for transport business and trade have been arbitrarily kept waiting at the border gate that they arrived in order to cast their votes in today's elections, Mezopotamya Agency (MA) reported.

MA reported yesterday (Mayı 13) that no vehicles have been allowed to pass through the Habur Border Gate in Silopi, Şırnak for 48 hours as of the hour of reporting, and that six thousand trucks and 30 buses were being kept waiting.

"They are doing this so that we will not be able to cast our votes"

Drivers kept waiting at the gate sent videos where they said, "This area is normally cleared in a short time but the same is not being done now for hours. It is normally cleared in 24 hours but 45 hours have passed and there is no move. Probably they are doing this so that we will not be able to go and cast our votes."

The drivers called on to the authorities, and said, "Hear our voices. We want to go to the polls and cast our votes." (NT/PE)
