Members of the Good (İYİ) Party have announced their resignations on social media following the party leader's decision not to support the presidential candidacy of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, leader of the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP).
Those who resigned from the party include Bülent Gürsoy, a former member of the party's General Management Board.
Many social media users who describe themselves as İYİ Party members also said they would resign from the party. Some of them shared screenshots of their applications for resignation on the e-government portal.
At a meeting of the six opposition leaders, known as the "Table of Six," yesterday (March 2), five leaders other than İYİ Party's Meral Akşener agreed on Kılıçdaroğlu's candidacy.
Akşener said today that they would have preferred İstanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu or Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavaş, both members of the CHP. She called on the mayors to declare candidacy.
