Detention warrants against several politicians of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) and People's Democratic Congress (HDK) have been issued as part of a new operation launched early this morning (June 3) in 10 provinces.
Tekirdağ Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has ordered the detention of 42 people including the co-chairs of İstanbul, Bingöl, and Edirne.
Police also raided the Headquarters of the HDK in the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul.
Breaking the doors, police reportedly confiscated some materials including computers in the building.
HDP İstanbul Co-Chair Ferhat Encü wrote about the raids on Twitter:
"We woke up to a Tekirdağ-based detention order this morning. Many friends have been detained including co-chairs from many of our provinces. Our right to conduct politics is trying to be taken from our hands. And we are continuing to resist. Not long left..."
