Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Van MP Murat Sarısaç has been sentenced to 1 year, 6 months, 22 days in prison on charge of "propagandizing for a terrorist organization". The court board has ruled that the announcement of the verdict shall be suspended.
The final hearing was held at the Van 5th High Criminal Court in eastern Turkey. HDP MP Sarısaç was facing "terrorism propaganda" charges over his social media posts from the years 2010, 2014 and 2015.
Murat Sarısaç has been sentenced to 1 year, 6 months, 22 days in prison on the offense charged, with the announcement of the verdict deferred by court, which means that if Sarısaç does not commit a new deliberate offense within five years, the verdict in question will be removed.

Murat Sarısaç served as the Party Assembly member of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) and as the Van Provincial Organization Co-Chair of the DBP. At the 3th Ordinary Congress, he was elected the Party Assembly member of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP).
He was born in Van's Gürpınar on August 7, 1983. He graduated from the Aksaray University Department of Public Administration and Political Science. (TP/SD)
