On Sunday (November 28), a group of people stormed an event in Ankara to mark the birthday of Alpaslan Türkeş, the late founder of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP).
The Alpaslan Türkeş Foundation, the organizers of the event, blamed the Grey Wolves, the youth branch of the MHP, for the attack.
MHP Chair Devlet Bahçeli claimed today (November 30) that the events developed "under the control of" Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavaş. "From now on, Mansur should be careful ... We'll follow him every day."
Yavaş is a former member of the MHP and still describes himself as an "idealist" in the sense that MHP supporters describe themselves. He is currently a member of the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP).
CHP deputy Seyit Torun responded to Bahçeli's remarks on Twitter, saying that "your threats are your weakness." (AÖ/VK)
