Replaced with a trustee by the Ministry of Interior in 2016, former Dersim Co-Mayor Mehmet Ali Bul from the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) has been acquitted of the offense charged in the court case filed against him on the grounds of "misconduct in office" with "co-mayorship."
As reported by MA, the final hearing held at the Tunceli 1st Penal Court of First Instance yesterday (September 7) was not attended by Bul himself while his lawyer Barış Yıldırım was present in the courtroom.
Indicating that using the title of "co-mayor" does not constitute a crime, the court board has ruled that Mehmet Ali Bul shall be acquitted. The ruling of acquittal is reportedly given based on an expert report concluding that the title of "co-mayor" does not lead to a public loss.
Lawyer Barış Yıldırım has announced the ruling on his Twitter account: "On the grounds that there is no obstacle to using the title of 'co-mayor, our former Dersim Co-Mayor Mehmet Ali Bul was acquitted today in the trial where was facing the charge of 'misconduct in office'."
