Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation against Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chairs Pervin Buldan and Sezai Temelli; Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK) Co-Spokesperson and HDP Muş MP Gülüstan Kılıç Koçyiğit; Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-Chairs and HDP MPs Leyla Güven and Berdan Öztürk.
The investigation has been launched due to their statements about Operation Peace Spring launched by Turkey into northern Syria.
HDP Co-Chairs Buldan and Temelli have been charged with "propagandizing for a terrorist organization" and "openly degrading the State of the Republic of Turkey" due to their statement dated October 9.
Buldan and Temelli as well as three HDP MPs have also been charged with "propagandizing for a terrorist organization", "praising the crime and the criminal" and "openly degrading the State of the Republic of Turkey" due to a joint statement made by Gülüstan Kılıç Koçyiğit.
Buldan and Temelli released a statement about the operation yesterday (October 9). In their statement entitled, "Let's give a voice to Rojava against the war", they condemned the operation and said, "Against this unlawful and illegitimate war, we will side with life without the slightest hesitation together with our people and Turkey's democracy forces".
