Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) Chair Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has criticized Minister of Interior Soylu for having visited the families sitting in front of Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Diyarbakır Provincial Organization for their allegedly abducted children.
"Why do you go and sit there? Your duty is to resolve the problem", CHP Chair Kılıçdaroğlu has slammed Minister Soylu.
Speaking at the CHP Party Assembly meeting yesterday (September 15), Kılıçdaroğlu stated the following in brief about the families who alleged that their children had been abducted by the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK):
'They are now separating mothers'
"There are mothers on the agenda of the society. A distinction is being made between the mothers. Saturday Mothers, Diyarbakır Mothers... What kind of a distinction is that? They both want their children. A mother in Diyarbakır says, 'My child will not come back. God willing, your child will.' When we look at this picture, aren't we supposed to defend the law of mothers?
"Saturday Mothers have been sitting with pictures of their children in their hands and without saying anything to anyone for 702 weeks. They want the graves of their children. Diyarbakır Mothers... They have their children as well... Doesn't this mother have her sorrows? She also wants her child to return, to produce, to break a sweat, to have their own children...
"She sent her son to military service for the protection of his land. But, he was abducted by the terrorist organization. They met the ministers. I passed it on to the authorities. I told them that these children had to be saved. We are not authorized, we do not have the power in our hands. The ones who have the authority and power went and sat with the mothers.
"You are a minister. You will resolve the problem. To resolve the pain... You have the authority, means, power, army, governors and generals... What Diyarbakır Mother has is her cry. They are now separating the mothers as well. It is what is a pity. A mother is a mother. She is the most important actor ensuring the sustainability of humanity. It is our duty to share her sorrow.
"Why do you go and sit there? You will resolve the sorrow, the problem... Your duty is to resolve the problem."
Last week, Minister of Family, Labor and Social Services Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk and Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu went to Turkey's southeastern province of Diyarbakır and paid a visit to the families staging a sit-in protest in front of HDP building. (AÖ/SD)
