After the closed door visit, representatives of the professional organizations and HDP Co-Chair Sezai Temelli made a joint statement for the press.
Referring to the visit of professional organizations as "meaningful", Temelli said, "Trustees will not be limited to Mardin, Van and Diyarbakır. Until democracy and peace come to this country, we will grow our solidarity and joint will in the fields, our workplaces and wherever we are."
'They want to foster disblief in the ballot box'
Taking the floor after Temelli on behalf of professional organizations, KESK Co-Chair Mehmet Bozgeyik stated the following in brief:
"AKP wants to foster disbelief in the Constitution, the law and right to vote and to be elected with its policies and unlawful practices. And, naturally, with the appointment of trustees, it signals that its oppressive actions targeting all opposition groups in Turkey will continue.
"We demand that the government abandon this practice of appointing trustees to Diyarbakır, Mardin and Van and the dismissed mayors and municipal council members be reinstated." (RT/SD)
