Ali Babacan, a former Deputy PM and Foreign Minister has released a statement one month after his resignation the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) which he is a founder of.
Announcing they "started works for a new vision of future for Turkey." Babacan has long been rumored to found a new party, yet did not specifically refer to a political party in his statement.
"In the statement I released on July 8, 2019, I said there is a need for a new vision of the future for Turkey and our country needs correct analyses, rethought strategies, plans and programs in every area.
"With our friends, we have started working, thinking this is very important to overcome the problems Turkey faces.
"One of our most important working principles is the principle of participation.
"After the statement I made last month, many citizens of ours declared their will to contribute to this process. They have already begun to add value to our endeavor with their excitement and knowledge."
Babacan said they began their endeavor in a period in the world where "populist movements damage universal principles and values and problems regarding the environment are disregarded."
"We want our society to live freely and happily in prosperity and in peace. We want our people, especially our young people to look at the future with hope," said Babacan, adding they will work to reach these aims. (EKN/VK)
