An investigation has been launched against all polling clerks who were on duty in March 31 local elections in Kadıköy, Maltepe and Ataşehir.
The İstanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has combined all ongoing investigations regarding İstanbul elections into three main investigations, namely the "Kadıköy investigation", "Maltepe investigation" and "Ataşehir investigation."
The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office previously requested the identifying information of all polling clerks who were on duty in these three districts. The information and documents requested from the election councils of three districts have been sent to the Prosecutor's Office in 26 folders.
The İstanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office will investigate whether any irregularities were committed in counting the votes, preparing joint minutes and entering them into the system.

In the meanwhile, all objections of the Republican People's Party (CHP) and İYİ Party were rejected by the Supreme Election Council (YSK).
Though another investigation was previously launched against the polling clerks in Kartal and Kadıköy, it did not result in prosecution.
CHP won the elections in all three districts
Election results in Kartal
In Kartal, Gökhan Yüksel, the candidate of the CHP, has received 51.17 percent of votes while the candidate of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), Ebubekir Taşyürek, has received 46.22 percent.
Gökhan Yüksel, the youngest mayor of İstanbul, received his certificate of election and took office in Kartal.
Election results in Ataşehir
While Battal İlgezdi from the CHP has been elected the Mayor of Ataşehir by receiving 51.39 percent of the votes, the AKP's candidate, İsmail Erdem, has come second by receiving 45.11 percent of votes.
Election results in Maltepe
In Maltepe, CHP's candidate Ali Kılıç has received 52.74 percent of votes and been elected the mayor of the district. AKP's candidate was not among the top five candidates there.
İstanbul election rerun on June 23
In its verdict dated May 6, the YSK has ruled that Metropolitan Mayoral Elections in İstanbul shall be repeated.
The certificate of election of CHP's Ekrem İmamoğlu, who won the election according to unofficial results, has been revoked. Until the repeat elections on June 23, Governor of İstanbul Ali Yerlikaya will be the Deputy Mayor.
YSK Chair Sadi Güven has also announced that the same voters will cast votes in repeat elections. (AS/SD)
