Tunceli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation against Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair Sezai Temelli on charge of "propagandizing for a terrorist organization" due to a speech that he made in an electoral meeting in Dersim on January 31, 2019.
The investigation has been launched on the allegation that Temelli "made remarks praising [Kurdistan Workers Party's (PKK) imprisoned leader] Abdullah Öcalan and propagandized for an illegal terrorist organization in certain parts of his speech."
File of legislative immunity sent to Ankara
As part of this investigation, a file has been prepared to lift the legislative immunity of Temelli and sent to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
Having made a speech in the same meeting with Temelli on January 31, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Vice Co-Chair Halide Türkoğlu has also faced an investigation for "propagandizing for a terrorist organization."
On January 19, 2019, the Van Public Prosecutor's Office also launched an investigation against Sezai Temelli on the ground that the content of his speech that he made in "People's Meeting" on December 19, 2018 constituted a crime. (PT/SD)
