Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Kocaeli MP Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu, who is also a member to the Human Rights Investigation Commission of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), has sent the "Report on Social Costs of State of Emergency in its 2nd Year" to Parliamentary Speaker and chairs of 13 political parties along with a letter.
The 993-page report, which was prepared by the Justice for Victims society in six months, was shared with the public on January 21, 2019 by Gergerlioğlu, the Spokesperson of the platform.
'83 Percent of State of Emergency Victims Want to Leave Turkey'
The report examines the effects of State of Emergency in the categories of:
Babies and children as victims of State of Emergency; deaths of babies, children and adults; suicides and suicide attempts; torture and ill treatment; long or unlawful arrest or detention; sexual assault or harassment; work-related, occupational, road, traffic accidents; incidents of abduction, hostage taking, going missing or disappearing; unjust treatment in security investigations; practices of "civil death" subjected to the victims of Statutory Decrees; discrimination or restraints aimed at right to work; unjust treatment related to bylock and morbeyin (purple brain) applications; exclusion, isolation and problems in the family.
"We demand justice for everyone"
In the letter attached to the report, Gergerlioğlu has stated,
"It should be an essential that people are governed with an understanding of governance, where there is no discrimination based on language, religion, sect, race, ethnicity, gender, life style, social, political, cultural or ideological differences and where not the ones who are powerful, but the ones who are rightful predominate within the limits of justice and equity.
"As the Justice for Victims society, we wish a world where not the powerful are rightful, but the rightful are powerful.
"We consider leaving the line of justice in the face of blessings to be offered by power or threats to be immoral, just as we find it immoral to condone injustice for benefits. In this context, we have the desire to work with everyone who embraces the same understanding.
"We are well aware that a system that is not based on justice cannot continue its existence for a long time. We will always be on the side of the ones subjected to injustice regardless of their identities. We demand justice for everyone in order to lead a peaceful and humanly life all together."
