Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has spoken at the Doha Conference in Qatar and addressed the issues of extradition of Fethullah Gülen from the US and the recent developments in Syria.
Referring to the meeting between US President Donald Trump and President and Justice and Development Party (AKP) Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the G20 Leaders Summit in Argentina, Çavuşoğlu has stated that Trump told Erdoğan that they have been working on the extradition of Fethullah Gülen, the head of Gülen Community/ Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), which is held responsible for plotting the coup attempt on July 15, 2016.
Çavuşoğlu has also stated that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has been conducting an investigation against the community in the wake of allegations that its structuring in the US has been evading taxes.
Regarding the recent developments in Syria, Çavuşoğlu has said that they can consider working with Syria President Bashar al Assad in the event that he wins a democratic election in Syria. (EKN/SD)
