The Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu spoke at the 10th Ambassadors Conference, which was held in Ankara today (August 13).
Inviting the investors from around the world to make investments in Turkey, Çavuşoğlu said, "Despite all types of campaigns, perception operations and the demanding tests that the world has been going through, Turkey is one of the best and most trustworthy places to make an investment today."
Stating that "Turkey has never deviated from its goal of becoming a full member of the European Union (EU)", Çavuşoğlu also emphasized that "accession to the EU will continue to be the principal axis of Turkey."
"The US behaved in a way far from being constructive"
Addressing the US-Turkey relations, which have become tense after the US announced that it would impose sanctions on Turkey in the wake of Pastor Brunson not being released from house arrest, Çavuşoğlu said,
"In the recent period, our relations with the US have come to an undesired point. The US administration behaved in a way far from being constructive.
"The US did not take a concrete step about the FETÖ (the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization, which is held responsible for the coup attempt on July 15, 2016), they know that the organization was behind the July 15 process."
"It is not possible that we accept the impositions"
"We, as Turkey, have displayed our political will to restore the relations with the US, we have done way more than our share.
"We have said, 'You should learn that you cannot achieve any results through threats or pressure.' A pressure implemented by one side does not have a place in the culture of reconciliation. It is not possible that we accept the impositions." (EKN/SD)
