A delegation of 33 people planned to be sent by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) to Turkey to monitor presidential and parliamentary elections are planning to hold a series of visits to parties’ presidential and MP candidates.
Headed by Olena Sotnyk from Ukraine, the delegation included meetings with the Supreme Election Board (YSK), Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK), media and NGO representations in its program.
The delegation will leave on June 25
Planning to leave Turkey on the day after the elections, the delegation will share their impression in the meeting they will hold on June 25, Monday.
Besides, a Venice Commission member will provide legal support during the visit.
YSK hadn’t met with the OSCE
The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Parliamentary Assembly and OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights had declared that they had planned to send an observer to Turkey for the elections.
However, YSK Chair Sadi Güven and six members didn’t meet with the OSCE delegation. The OSCE had come with four of its members. (PT/TK)
