Presidential Spokesperson Denies Presidential Consultant on Resolution Process

Presidential Principal Consultant İlnur Çevik has said that the resolution process may recommence after the June 24 snap election.

Stating that, “It is believed that our President will take some initiatives about the Kurds to ease the locals after the elections”, Çevik said that Kurds are not very happy with the alliance of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) with the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP).

Speaking at the program “Açık ve Net” on Habertürk, addressing the debates on whether Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Presidential candidate Selahattin Demirtaş should be released, Çevik expressed that arrest of Demirtaş should continue.

Çevik also said that Demirtaş took people to the street during Kobane incidents and started "Ditch" incidents.

"There maybe a new resolution process. Why not? Our President [Recep Tayyip Erdoğan] has announced more freedom, more democracy...For this reason, there will probably be a resolution process".

Presidential Spokesperson: It’s not on president’s agenda

Presidential Spokesperson İbrahim Kalın has refuted Çevik’s statement that the resolution process may recommence after the election.

“There is no topic like resolution process on the agenda of Mr. President”.

"The fight put up by all our citizens including Kurds to get rid of tyranny and oppression of the PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) terrorist organization will continue in determination". (EKN/TK)
