Justice and Development Party (AKP) Deputy Chairperson and Spokesperson Mahir Ünal has said that the region in general and Hakkari in particular "have become safe after fight against terrorism" and added that it was as a result of this fight that "the main opposition party Republican People's Party (CHP) presidential candidate Muharrem İnce could organize a rally in Turkey's southeastern province of Hakkari with Turkish flags."
"It is extremely safe, extremely unproblematic"
In response to a question directed to him during his statement to the press yesterday (May 10) about the rally of İnce in Hakkari, Mahir Ünal said,
"In the past, it hurt everyone that the CHP organized a rally in Hakkari with the pledge of a political party which has the characteristic of being an extension of the PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party). The fact that they now hold a rally in this way demonstrates the strength of the government, whose legitimacy they open up for discussion day and night, and shows that terrorists have been cleared not only from the city, but also from the rural. When you go to the region, you see how safe the region has become after the fight against terrorism. When I go to Hakkari and Tunceli... I went there just a month ago... It is extremely safe, extremely unproblematic... People can go shopping on the street until 12 p.m. They can wander the streets in safety. Of course, in such an environment, the CHP candidate can hold a rally with Turkish flags." (ŞA/SD)
