After President and Justice and Development Party (AKP) Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has announced that the Presidential and parliamentary general election will be held on June 24, 2018, the Spokesperson of the main opposition party Republican People's Party (CHP) Bülent Tezcan has made a statement.
Bülent Tezcan has said, "The spokesperson of the coalition said that he wanted the snap election to take place on August 26. The senior partner of the coalition said, 'June 24, 2018.' They have made the decision in such a haste and surprise that the foreseen date for the snap election concurs with the day when the university entrance exams will be held. Now, they will play with the destiny of our children."
Tezcan has also added, "We said it yesterday very clearly: Bring it on. As CHP, we are ready for the election. We are ready as if the election will be held tomorrow."
"State of Emergency has to be abolished immediately"
Stating that the government cannot rule the country and it is responsible for the six million unemployed and 16 million poor people in Turkey, Tezcan has addressed the government by saying, "You cannot bring this nation to an unjust election under the State of Emergency conditions. What needs to be done immediately is that the Grand National Assembly of Turkey abolish the State of Emergency. Today, the national assembly has to reject the mandate for the State of Emergency."
