European Parliament Rapporteur for Turkey Kati Piri stated that she would propose in the European Parliament to launch an urgent call for release of Anadolu Kültür Board Chair Osman Kavala, who was taken into custody yesterday (October 18) evening at İstanbul Atatürk Airport.
Announcing that she would inform the European Parliament on the current development, Piri shared the following tweet as to Kavala being taken into custody:

What happened?
Osman Kavala was taken into custody in the evening hours on October 18 at İstanbul Atatürk Airport on his return from a meeting of a project planned to be realized in cooperation with Goethe Institute in Antep.

Police seized Kavala and his secretary's computer at Anadolu Kültür.
Speaking to T24, lawyer Ferat Çağıl conveyed that Kavala was taken to the Anti-Terror Bureau and there is a detention warrant of seven days for him.
Çağıl also stated that they couldn't learn the charges pressed against him due to the seal on the file. (EKN/TK/DG)
