3 of the 16 academics taken into custody on May 1 after being discharged from the Dicle University through the Statutory Decree No. 689 who remained further in custody after testifying have also been released.
The other 13 academics had been released after testifying on May 2.
What happened?
484 academics were discharged from public service through the Statutory Decree No 689 issued on April 29. 66 of these academics were signees of the peace declaration.
Anti-Terror units coming to the housings of Dicle University have searched the apartments and the offices of the academics on May 1.
Following the police search, the academics were taken into custody to give testimony. The discharged academics were signees of the peace declaration entitled "We will not be a party to this crime".
13 of the academics were released after testifying, three others had spent the night in custody. (BK/DG)
