People's Republican Party (CHP) İstanbul MP Sezgin Tanrıkulu has visited the Peoples' Democratic Party's (HDP) arrested co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş in Edirne Type-F Closed prison on Newroz, March 21.
Talking to bianet about his visit, Tanrıkulu stated that he had not visited Demirtaş on the occasion of Newroz and said that his friendship with Demirtaş went back to the times when he was the Bar President of Diyarbakır and added that their meeting was a private one.
Acquiring some information regarding the health situation of Demirtaş, Tanrıkulu said that Demirtaş was in a good state both physically and mentally.
Tanrıkulu noted that Demirtaş as to Newroz had said "This Newroz has become a symbol for our demand of peace".
With regards to the referendum, Demirtaş said "Although there are different reasons for saying 'no', our joint concern is Turkey. Since the HDP is also a political party in Turkey, our worries and concerns also address Turkey. A 'no' on April 16 (date of the referendum) will clear the way for Turkey". (TP/EKN/DG)
